Aveyron Homes is dedicated to supporting individuals with specialized needs by providing customized living options and keeping local resources close to home.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time for us to unite in protecting children by spreading awareness. According to the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS), states that focus on prevention through education and awareness often see a decrease in child abuse cases and child fatalities due to abuse. Raising awareness can lead to increased vigilance, more resources for at-risk families, and better community support systems. Preventing abuse is a shared responsibility, and by speaking up and supporting one another, we help create a safer, stronger community.
This month, we also want to recognize the vital work of caregivers and parents. Your dedication is invaluable, and so is your well-being. Taking time to recharge is essential in continuing to provide the support and compassion needed for those in your care.
By sharing resources and wearing BLUE, we can raise awareness and promote prevention efforts. Here are some valuable resources and statistics to inform and guide our collective action:
Prevent Child Abuse America: The nation’s oldest organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect before it happens. They offer programs and resources to help children, families, and communities thrive. Prevent Child Abuse America
National Child Abuse Prevention Month Outreach Toolkit: Provides tools and resources to support communities in preventing child maltreatment and promoting child and family well-being. Cwig
Child Welfare Information Gateway: Offers comprehensive information on child abuse prevention, including protective factors and strategies to strengthen families. api.childwelfare.gov+1Child Welfare+1
By educating ourselves and others, we can work together to create a safer environment for everyone in our community. 💙

Dear Friends and Family of Aveyron Homes,
Congressional leaders have released a budget draft that calls for at least $1.5 trillion in spending cuts, with Medicaid likely facing some of the deepest cuts, according to Politico. If Congress is successful in passing its budget resolution, it would direct further legislation to make these drastic cuts, which could:
Shift Medicaid costs to states, forcing them to cut provider rates or reduce essential services.
Put individuals with I/DD at risk of losing critical supports that allow them to live independently.
Members of Congress rely on feedback from their constituents when making decisions on public policy. Studies show that direct outreach from constituents is the most effective way to influence legislators—your voice truly makes a difference. That’s why it’s critical to act now and tell Congress to protect Medicaid and the services individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) rely on. Congress must hear from you now. Tell your Congressional members: Reject Medicaid cuts and protect services for people with disabilities.
Preserve I/DD Services—Tell Congress Protect Medicaid!
